A Gilbert Larose mystery set in Suffolk.
Originally published in 1948.
All of the Gilbert Larose books by Arthur Gask are excellent, fast-paced detective thrillers. Larose definitely has his faults, and often he finds himself imprisoned by enemies when no one knows where he is or will miss him for several days. You’d think he’d learn, wouldn’t you? Still, he manages to get the bad guys and clear all away for the romance that is pending. These are good Golden Age detective stories, and while they aren’t deep or involved, they are fun reads for those of us who like a nice old mystery of this sort.
